Artist's Mark

When were doll's produced with an artist's mark? Thanks for your help trying to date my dolls.

Nobody seems to know for sure.
What is usually called "artist's mark" right behind the ear can appear in relatively late dolls (my daughter's Josefina, purchased at AGPNY 6 months ago has it) and can be absent in older dolls, usually buried under the wig, but at times totally missing.
You will still find the mark more commonly on older dolls, since the original molds were still being used, but again some very old dolls (white body!) may not have the mark (as is the case of my undeniably PM Kirsten)

Thanks for the quick response. I have an Asian doll with the red vest, striped hoody, and blue skirt meet outfit. Her vinyl definitely feels PM. Her box has a shiny white cover with thin lines and a black band with colorful girl on it...the tag says GT4E made in china germany USA. I was trying to figure out if she's 1999 because of the outfit or younger because the softer vinyl, artist mark, and her box. What do you guys think?

If you are trying to figure out 1999 as a marker for Mattel or Pleasant Company, check the eyebrows. The Pleasant Company ones are much softer to the touch than Mattel.

I think skittl1321 meant her eyelashes.
